The one thing I like more than baking cakes (other than eating them, naturally) is to decorate and adorn them with flowers. As my blog name suggests, I have a fondness for all things floral, whether edible or not: fresh flowers; floral fabrics; floral photography; sugarpaste flowers; or floral flavoured sweets, jellies and jams. I do not discriminate. I’m rather bad at keeping potted flowers alive though, but we can’t have everything.
In regards to cakes, most of the time I prefer to make fondant flowers so you can bite straight into them. But for more special occasions, you cannot beat wired flower paste arrangements: they are worth the time and effort.
My favourite flower, the rose, happens to be edible as well as beautiful. That’s a lucky coincidence isn’t it! Now, what to make with these edible rose petals and beautiful jar of Confit de Petales de Rose?
